Ingredients

4 large shallots, chopped
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons dry red wine
1 1/2 teaspoons dried thyme
1 1 1/2-pound flank steak, trimmed

Preparation

  1. Step 1

    Whisk first 5 ingredients to blend in 13x9x2-inch glass dish, season with pepper. Add steak and turn to coat. Marinate steak up to 2 hours at room temperature or cover and refrigerate up to 1 day, turning steak occasionally.

    Step 2

    Preheat broiler. Remove steak from marinade. Broil steak to desired doneness, about 4 minutes per side for medium-rare. Transfer steak to platter. Thinly slice steak across grain on diagonal and serve.
