A refreshing homemade soda that can quench a thirst as well as feed a chocolate fix.

Refrigerate the leftover chocolate syrup for another use.

    Serves 4

Ingredients

Chocolate Syrup (makes 2 1/2 cups)

Water 2 cups
Sugar 1/2 cup
Cocoa powder 1/2 cup
Vanilla bean Seeds scraped from 1/3 bean

Soda

Chocolate Syrup 2 cups
Seltzer 2 cups

Preparation

  1. Make the chocolate syrup

    Step 1

    1. In a medium saucepan, mix water, sugar, cocoa powder, and vanilla and bring to a boil.

    Step 2

    2. Take off heat, strain, and let cool.

  2. Make the soda

    Step 3

    3. Add Chocolate Syrup to seltzer and stir. Divide among tall glasses.
